The Daily Mail is claiming that the veteran goalkeeper has already passed a medical at Stamford Bridge and is set to be confirmed as Chelsea’s first signing of the summer in the coming days.
The 35-year-old Argentine is a free agent after he was released by Manchester City at the end of last season.
The Blues have been on the lookout for a new goalkeeper after Asmir Begovic joined Bournemouth this summer, with Cabellero set to be an understudy to first-choice Thibaut Courtois at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea have been linked with a move for Caballero for some time and the Blues will now likely turn their attentions towards bringing in reinforcements in other positions this summer.
The west London side are believed to be on the lookout for a number of new signings this summer as Antonio Conte prepares his team for a return to the Champions League for next season.
