The English Premier League is arguably one of the most challenging leagues available today, that’s why clubs can afford to spend top pounds on transfer deals to acquire that extra addition needed to take their team to the next level.
From the beginning of the transfer window we have seen clubs release, sell and buy players. Here’s what your favorite clubs have been up to.
Transfer Deals – Manchester United
Manchester United has just completed their first signing of the transfer window with all speculations of signing Griezmann falling apart when the French Forward committed his future to the club till 2022, and with a huge buyout clause attached to his contract, it’s no surprise that the Red Devils looked to add players from other teams and are on the lookout.
The club officially announced the signing of Swedish defender Victor Lindelöf on a four-year contract for a fee of £31 million from Benfica as Mourinho looks to strengthen his backline and add a defensive twist to his team that conceded the second fewest goals in the Premier League last season.
This deal was agreed and sealed while the defender was on international duty. Mourinho who spoke to the club’s official website said:
“Victor is a very talented young player, who has a great future ahead of him at United.”
“Our season last year showed us that we need options and quality to add depth to the squad and Victor is the first to join us this summer. I know that our fantastic group of players will welcome him as one of us.”
The Swede expressed his joy in signing for the Red Devils
“I’m thrilled to join United, I’m keen to get started and contribute to the team’s efforts to win more trophies.”
Michael Carrick has also penned a new deal with the Red Devils seeing him staying at Old Trafford till 2018.
Leicester City
Former Champions, Leicester City are also looking to improve their squad with speculations surrounding a number of players wanting out of the club. Newly appointed manager Craig Shakespeare made defender Sam Hughes from Chester first signing for the club since taking over as permanent manager.
There were reports that the Foxes are expected to announce the signing of defender Harry Maguire from Hull City. These reports have finally been confirmed with the signing of the defender for a fee of about £17m. The 24-year-old puts pen to paper for the Foxes on a five-year contract.
Liverpool
Liverpool are in talks with As Roma of Italy to see if they can seal the signing of Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah. The Egyptian had a not too good spell at Chelsea which made him seal his move to Roma following a loan. We will keep you abreast as this transfer deal unfolds.
Aston Villa
Aston Villa is interested in signing John Terry, according to reports. It is understood that the 36-year-old former Chelsea man is looking to see out his career with the Midlands side. Steve Bruce played golf with Terry in Algarve over the weekend, where they talked about the possibility of the Former Blue skipper joining the Championship side, also hoping to push for a promotion next season.
Everton
Everton has agreed upon a £30m fee with Sunderland for goalkeeper Jordan Pickford. Pickford established himself as Sunderland’s first choice under manager David Moyes. The fee is so far the most paid for an English goalkeeper and this makes the 23-year-old one of the most expensive goalkeepers ever.
The Holland midfielder and former Ajax captain “Davy Klaassen” has also signed a five-year contract with Everton at an initial fee of £24m.
